چکیده
Introduction: To identify preoperative features that predict ureteral stent placement failure in women with obstructive uropathy secondary to cervical cancer. Methods: Observational, descriptive, analytical study. Clinical registries of patients diagnosis cancer were reviewed. Fifty-two attended between January 2017 2021 included. Diagnosis consisted hydronephrosis or hydroureter imaging studies and elevation baseline serum creatinine blood urea nitrogen uremic syndrome. An analysis variables interest was carried out assess the association failure. Results: We observed overall rate failed 55.8%. did not find any differences characteristics successful unsuccessful placement. A higher percentage urinary diversion on admission had a decrease output (58.6% vs. 30.4%, p=0.04), syndrome (51.7% 21.7%, p=0.02), as well an increased median (6.6 2.6 mg/dL, p=0.03) compared cut-off value 3.4 mg/dL yielded sensitivity 69% specificity 65.2% for (AUC=0.674, 95% CI 0-52-0.82; p=0.03). Conclusion: Our data suggest distal obstruction evidenced by imaging, regardless extent invasion, is most important factor related

Acute Renal Failure due to Obstructive Uropathy Secondary to Ureteral Endometriosis
Ureteral involvement by endometriosis is a rare and often silent disease but capable of producing significant morbidity and leading to hydronephrosis and to renal failure. Surgery is the treatment of choice to remove endometriotic lesions and relieve ureteral obstruction if the kidney is still functional or a nephrectomy is performed if there is a complete loss of renal function. We report a ca...

Hydronephrosis is a rare complication of acute appendicitis. We present a case of missed appendicitis in a 52-year-old female which presented as a right-sided hydronephrosis. 2 days after admission to the Department of Urology CT revealed acute appendicitis for what open appendectomy was performed. Acute appendicitis can lead to obstructive uropathy by periappendiceal inflammation due to adjace...

A 55 year old man presented with acute renal failure. He was grossly overweight with a BMI of 48 and had a past history of sleep apnoea, chronic lymphoedema and left ventricular dysfunction. Physical examination revealed a pendulous abdomen which extended to his knees and bilateral, irreducible inguinoscrotal hernias. Blood samples on admission revealed a serum creatinine of 187umol/l and an eG...
متن کاملConservative Management of Obstructive Uropathy Secondary to Stones
Obstructive uropathy is defined as structural obstruction to urine flow along the urinary tract. It can lead to dilatation of renal pelvis and calyces. (1). However renal pelvis can be dilated without obstruction. Therefore hydronephrosis and dilated renal pelvis are not synonymous terms. The damage to renal tissue caused by these conditions often leads to obstructive nephropathy contributing t...
متن کاملBilateral Obstructive Uropathy Secondary to Giant Periureteral Diverticulum
Bladder diverticula are herniations of the mucosa through the fibers of the bladder muscle connected by necks of variable amplitude. They are often asymptomatic, although they may lead to complications that require a surgical therapeutic approach. We report the case of a patient with bilateral obstructive uropathy secondary to a giant periureteral diverticulum that was treated by diverticulecto...
